Hiking For Health

Hiking is a great outdoor activity where you enjoy being in the beautiful, great outdoors enjoying nature. It is a great way to exercise and help your health. It is an activity which is very good for your heart and your body. It is different than a gym membership because it doesn’t cost as much since there are no membership dues, the scenery changes with every turn and every season and it can be accomplished alone, with a partner or even with a group.

Hiking can increase your heart rate and burn calories. In fact, 20 minutes is all you need to do in order to keep your heart rate up and to burn calories. When doing only 20 minutes a day, you should try to do this every day. If you increase the amount of time, then you can develop a schedule for your walking.

Hiking is an excellent way to lose those extra pounds you have added on this winter. According to the American Heart Association, if you walk 30 to 60 minutes for three to four times a week, you will be able to lose weight. What a pleasant way to improve your health.

Other health benefits from hiking include improving the condition of your heart by reducing the likelihood of heart disease, reducing high blood pressure, improving your own mental health, slowing the aging process and preventing osteoporosis. More health benefits include controlling diabetes, helping your arthritis problems and relieving back pressure.

Now, go get a nice pair of hiking boots or even just comfortable shoes and commune with nature in a way that is positive and productive for your health.
