Pets need exercise just as much as people do. Exercise for both you and your dog allows room for companionship with your pet as well as promoting a healthy lifestyle for both of you. Exercising works the body, builds muscle and endurance and virtually adds years to the owner and the pets lives. Exercising promotes a positive outlook on life, gives the dog a better disposition and if the dog must stay confined in a small space, gives opportunity to work the muscles and keeps them from becoming soft.
Dogs have no control over their circumstances. It is up to the pet owner to see that they get the proper exercise that they need to stay fit and healthy. If a pet owner has become slack and lazy, most likely the dog will suffer the consequences also. Dogs are very alert and perceptive if taken care of properly. They will always be ready to go. They can be your best companion and are always ready to please you with proper discipline and training.
Running or jogging with your pet would be a great way to exercise together. If you are not up to that, then maybe a 30 minute brisk walk would be sufficient for the two of you. If you are the adventurous type and love to hunt, take your dog along when scouting out areas to hunt. A dog is great protection for a walk in the park or around a lake. You might try teaching it how to have fun in the water by throwing a toy and teaching it how to retrieve it. Stick with a program several times a week and you would be amazed how much better the both of you feel!
