Exercise is one thing that most people do not get enough of. Our fast-pace lifestyles do not allow time for the proper exercise that our bodies need. Children are no exception. Their bodies need regular exercise just as adults. In fact, regular exercise can greatly improve the learning skills of a child, while adding strength to the physical body.
The activities of families as a whole, often do not include an exercise program. Many parents allow their children to spend too much time on computers or other indoor video games that require very little or no physical activity. This is a very serious mistake. Children should be limited in this type recreation and encouraged to become more involved in outdoor activities such as basketball, bicycle riding and jogging.
The lack of exercise is the major cause of obesity among children. The average child consumes entirely too many fatty foods. This type of diet, and very little exercise can lead to serious health problems down the road. Providing your child with a balanced diet and seeing that they get the proper amount of exercise could actually save their lives.
Proper exercise involves discipline for the child. If a child is not made to exercise, they probably won’t. Making this a family affair is one way of encouraging your child to participate in some form of physical activity. Set aside a certain time of the day for this activity, and make sure that it happens. Exercising as a family can really be fun. Whether it is aerobics, or outdoor games, this can be a great way of spending quality time together, while reaping the benefits of a more healthy body for you and your child.
