Staying Fit as a Young Adult

By choosing to stay fit as a young adult, you will be making a life long decision that will also encourage you to stay fit for life. Research has shown that young adults who were considered fit were less likely to develop diseases such as high blood pressure, stroke or heart attack. By learning to exercise and eat right from an early age you are offering your body a great start towards a long, happy life.

Not only is exercise a great way to keep your body at a healthy weight, it helps increase your energy level and brain activity as well. The great thing about exercising is that there are so many different exercises to choose from that there is sure to be one that you will enjoy. There are many things to do in your every day routine that will help you become more fit. For example, park at the back of a shopping mall and walk, or take the steps instead of the elevator. Any cardiovascular exercise is better than none at all. If you are entitled to a break during your work day, take a walk instead of staying in the office.

Before starting any type of intense work out routine, it is a good idea to see your family doctor for a check up and routine blood work. This will allow you to monitor your physical health and fitness along with make adjustments accordingly. Exercising has also been known to lower your chances for catching colds and other viruses.
