Activities for Children

It’s really a good idea to get children up and moving. Getting them involved in physical activities is not that difficult if you make it fun. There are many games that they can play, and they won’t even realize they are getting the benefits of physical activity. You might even get some of the benefits if you get out and participate with the kids. Here are a few ideas and games that are geared toward getting a child involved in physical activities.

One of the oldest games in the world is the Hokey Pokey. It’s fun and entertaining, even for adults. You can do the dance and create more movement than it actually calls for in the game. You can even add different body parts that are mentioned.

Another game that is an oldie but a goodie is Red Rover. You need to have at least 10 people to play. When the group is divided, they have to stand hand in hand and face each other. Make sure it’s a good distance from each other so you can get a little bit of steam built up running over to the other side.

A favorite chase game is freeze tag. One child or person is it and has to chase another person and tag them. The person or child that has been tagged has to stay frozen until someone else unfreezes them by tagging them. It’s a good idea to play in a wide open area where there is plenty of room to run.
