How to Motivate Your Kids

Motivating your kids centers around encouraging them to desire to do something you feel is beneficial for them. As a parent you must start the process as they are growing from a very early age. If you give your child everything they need before they even know they need it, studies show you are stifling their own natural motivational desires. It is the needs and wants that motivates us all to spring into action.

Take a good look at what motivates you. Whether it is a new car or a better paying job, it is the lack of something that makes you move. If your child wants a new bicycle, do you rush out and buy it for them? Why not try this? Make an arrangement with them that if they perform certain chores that you choose for a definite period of time, you will get them the bicycle they want.

Another great motivator is to offer to pay for half of the cost of the bicycle if they will earn the money for the rest. When you allow your children to accomplish a task for themselves, it builds their self confidence and they can do even greater things.

In order to motivate your kids you must have a close relationship with them. You must spend time with them and listen to their dreams and desires. Once they know that you care about their issues, they will listen to your suggestions. You have learned a wealth of things by experience and now that they are listening, you can share. This sharing from your heart will motivate them because they trust you.
