Making fitness part of your daily routine sounds boring, doesn’t it? But fitness doesn’t have to be boring. If you are not having fun, you will not stay with the exercise schedule you create for yourself. What things do you enjoy doing? Walking on the beach or a refreshing swim in the lake count as exercise. Maybe an early morning run or a game of tennis would be more to your liking. Join a softball league. Not a good day to exercise outside? Work out with an exercise tape while the kids are asleep. Go bowling with your friends. Lift weights at your local gym. Use your home treadmill to walk on. There are hundreds of possibilities. The important thing is to keep moving!
Exercise is not a separate part of your life. Exercise is a daily habit, just like taking a shower or brushing your teeth. In order for exercise to become a daily habit, it takes practice. Many people find it helpful to have someone to exercise with. So grab your spouse, a friend, or neighbor and get started. Exercising with your kids may even bring you closer. You are not married to your daily routine. Change your routine when exercising gets boring.
It is easy to make excuses for not exercising, and even easier to lose motivation. Exercise is vital to mental and physical well being. Only you can make your health a priority. So what are you waiting for? Close the computer and go for a walk.
