Self Discipline

Self discipline is when you take control of yourself and circumstances regardless of your emotions. By developing self discipline in yourself, you can overcome bad habits and addictions.

You can start by writing down what habits need to be changed and goals you want to reach. Prioritize the list starting with the habit or addiction that you need to address first. You must realize that it is going to take hard work, willpower, and persistence to achieve your goals.

An example of using self discipline, is when you admit you are overweight and need to change your diet and exercise routine. This is where your willpower will come into play. If you have a problem with certain foods such as sweets, then eliminate them and replace them with fruits and vegetables. Schedule a time in your day for exercising and stick to it. Once you reach your goal, be proud of how much better you look and feel.

Self discipline will take time and energy to accomplish your goals. Always make sure your goals are reachable for you. If you are in college, you know you have to use self discipline and make yourself study to succeed. Anything worth having takes hard work.

By taking control of your mind and emotions you can develop self-control, and the inner power to overcome the difficulties in life. By knowing your strengths and weaknesses, you can take positive steps using self discipline to reinforce your strengths and overcome your weaknesses. Self discipline is a tool to be perfected over time.
