Exercise Tips for Teenagers

Teenagers rarely admit that they want to exercise. This is why it needs to be fun. The problem arises when the parent may not know what the teenager likes to do. The answer to this problem is communication between the parent and their child. This is a great time to talk about their likes and dislikes.

We tend to think teenagers who enjoy videogames are couch potatoes, but this is simply not true. They may benefit physically from some of the games they play. Teenagers who love videogames will like some of the interactive games out there. Why not try Dance Dance Revolution or Wii Fit? To play games like these, the kids will get up and move all their body parts. Dance Dance Revolution will have them moving their feet, while Wii Fit will guide them through other fun exercises that move the midsection and arms as well. Limit their screen time to two half hour sessions, instead of letting them control the time.

We tend to think of only football, basketball, wrestling, soccer, volleyball, swimming, baseball, softball, and tennis as the primary sports in high school. The sports arena has opened to field hockey, golfing, water polo, ice hockey, lacrosse, table tennis, handball, skating, skiing and many more. Social kids who like to be around more people might enjoy some of these activities. For example, track and field has something for everyone. There is running, jumping and throwing in this sport. The endless amount of sports available in schools is amazing. Open your kid’s eyes to some new sports that they have never experienced. They might just like it.
