It is important for a child to stay fit. With the help of the adults, kids can be motivated to stay fit too. Sometimes the children are somewhat of coach potatoes, but that can be changed. One assumption that parents make is that the schools are taking care of the kids with P.E. classes. Some of the kids should be enrolled in extra activity sports programs, but they are not. It all comes down to a lack of exercise, poor nutrition and their poor activity level.
Your children need to start preventing diseases like high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes and cancer. Often, the food they consume does not give them the proper protein, vitamins, minerals and fiber that they need. You have to eliminate junk food and sweets. It is never too late to start a healthy lifestyle.
Exercise can be boring, but you can have a family night out and make it fun. You can take your children to a game of golf, bowling, or swimming at the local YMCA. You can also take the time in the afternoon for a healthy picnic. You can take your kids to team sports. Maybe on a Saturday morning you can be involved with your kids by doing some of the exercises that they do for a sports activity. You should try to avoid the foods from places like fast food or ice cream.
You should always make sure they are getting a healthy breakfast. Breakfast keeps them from overeating throughout the day. It also helps their energy levels and gives them fuel for a full day. Parents are often rushed in the morning, but please do not let your children skip breakfast. It can be something healthy like a banana or a bagel. Be a good example and don't be too pushy and demanding in your healthy requests. Make dieting and exercise fun for your children. Believe it or not, they will probably thank you some day.
