In an era when kids think it is cool to sit and watch television and play X Box after school and on the weekends, you should really think again about what your child does for fun.
Twenty five percent of our children are now considered obese. That is because of the inactivity of the kids. Parents allow their children to sit at the computer for hours on end. The antidote to that kind of behavior is to put them on a favorite sport’s team with their friends or participate in their favorite sport through the YMCA. There are so many options for your kids to get healthy and play at the same time.
You can start weaning your kids off of their fixation with electronic games. One of the ways is by asking them to pick a show they want to watch later on after dinner. Before that show comes, on, go out for a walk, or throw a Frisbee in your front yard. There are so many things that you could do with your child that they would love. Take the dog for walk and have a race back to see who wins. Draw a hopscotch board on your driveway. As long as you are with them, it becomes fun.
Also, encourage your kids to play sports and learn team spirit and sharing with their teammates. It teaches humility with a loss and how to win graciously. It teaches to respect authority and the exercise benefits are extraordinary. Exercise will help lower a child’s blood pressure and build solid muscle to give the core of their body a good balance.
